Bearcats head to Australia

Three Monroe High School (MHS) Bearcat football players will be representing Washington state in the 27th-annual Down Under Bowl in Brisbane, Australia this June.
Juniors Austin Mead, Dillon Fargo and Jesse Jarosky have all played football since they were 8 years old. Mead, Fargo and Jaroksy have been on MHS's starting Varsity team since last season. All three playing on the defensive side of the ball, and are dedicated athletes, who spend their off-season in the weight room.
The Pacific Conference Team will consist of 28 players from California, Oregon and Washington. More than 300 players from the United States will be competing with other teams from the U.S. and Australia in this invite-only football tournament.
Over the past 26 years, Down Under Sports has shared the land down under with tens of thousands from across the U.S. Some standouts of the Down Under Bowl include Jake "The SnakeGÇ¥ Plummer of the Denver Broncos, Ahman Green of the Green Bay Packers and Jesse Williams of our own Seattle Seahawks.
Mead, Fargo and Jarosky will split their 12-day trip, spending nine days in Australia and three in Hawaii. With the excitement of going to Australia on this once-in-a-lifetime trip, also comes the need to raise money.
Families will be having many fundraisers, including one on Friday, March 20 at 6 p.m. with a dinner and Texas Hold "Em tournament at the IOOF Hall (610 S. Lewis St.).
If you would like to attend the dinner or tournament, RSVP by email to oakwoodfloors@comcast.net. Direct donations can be made to www.downundersports.com under any of the boys' names.
