A bicyclist was transported to Harborview Medical Center on Wednesday, Dec. 3,-áafter being struck by a vehicle on U.S. 2 in Monroe.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:57 a.m., just west of the intersection of U.S. 2 and S.R. 522. The truck, a blue 1999 Ford F2 pickup, was traveling westbound when it struck the bicyclist, who was traveling in the right lane.
The bicyclist, a 63-year-old male, is in the intensive care unit with critical injuries. He was reportedly not wearing a helmet.
The truck sustained minor damages and was able to be driven from the scene. The driver was not injured.
The Monroe Police Department is looking for any witnesses to the incident. If there is anyone who witnessed the collision or observed the bicyclist prior to the incident, they are being asked to contact the Monroe Police Department at 360-794-6300 or the tip line at 360-863-4600.
The roadway was reported as being clear and bare, with ice in places.
