Everett's CafeWorks will hold a grand opening 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, with coffee, free samples and a look at the open space that provides job development opportunities for homeless youth.
CafeWorks is a collaboration between HopeWorks, Cocoon House and Housing Hope that provides an internship program for at-risk teens from Cocoon House and teens from Housing Hope's young parent program
"The internship program is what makes CafeWorks so special,GÇ¥ said HopeWorks Chief Operating Officer Ross Latham in a news release. "A customer isn't just purchasing great coffee; they're investing in the youth in our community.GÇ¥
Interns begin in early January, and can be found working the espresso machine and greeting customers during the Jan. 8 grand opening.
"Through an internship at CafeWorks, teens will learn culinary, customer service and cafe management skills in a supportive environment,GÇ¥ said Cocoon House Chief Program Officer Joe Alonzo in a news release. "This program is creating a brighter future for our at-risk youth.GÇ¥
CafeWorks is the newest social enterprise project from HopeWorks, an organization that evolved from Housing Hope's goal to provide job readiness, counseling, internships and work experience to low income individuals and people experiencing homelessness. CafeWorks is at HopeWorks Station at 3331 Broadway in Everett.
