CafeWorks provides social enterprise for county nonprofits


 
Three Snohomish County nonprofits opened an espresso bar in Everett this-ámonth to support homeless and at-risk youth, by providing workforce and management training.
The new social enterprise business CafeWorks opened Dec. 1 at HopeWorks Social Enterprises' HopeWorks Station, with teens from Housing Hope and Cocoon House acting as employees, to gain culinary, customer service and management skills.
The caf+¬ is the newest social enterprise internship opportunity being offered by HopeWorks for Housing Hope residents, with others including GroundWorks Landscaping Services, WaterWorks Irrigation Services and ReNewWorks Home & D+¬cor Store.
"We're thrilled to be opening CafeWorks at HopeWorks Station and working with Cocoon House,GÇ¥ said Ross Latham, chief operating officer at HopeWorks. "By getting a cup of coffee and a pastry at CafeWorks, customers will also be supporting job training for homeless teens in our community.GÇ¥
