Child hit by car on Old Owen Road

A 13-year-old Monroe girl was hospitalized with serious head injuries Friday night after she was struck by a car on Old Owen Road.

According to the Snohomish County Sheriff's Department, a driver struck a pedestrian at about 6:30 p.m. Friday. When police arrived on the scene, they found the victim, a young girl, to have significant head injuries. She was transported to Harborview Medical Center. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
