Downtown Monroe Association brings back Hoedown event to support marketing plan

The Downtown Monroe Association’s second annual Downtown Hoedown is set for Saturday.

Sharinabean’s on Main will host a musical performance at 1 p.m., with local vocalist Kiana Kendell and a fashion show will go from 4-5 p.m. at My L.A. Fashion.

The Hoedown will start at 6 p.m. at 610 S. Lewis St. Dance instruction will be held at 6:30 p.m., and “Biscuits ‘n’ Groovy” will take the stage shortly after. Casual western wear is highly encouraged.

Entry is $25 per person. To purchase tickets online or for more information on the event, visit downtownmonroeassociation.com. Free parking is available at the venue.

DMA board member Dianne Forth said the plan is to make the event a staple for the city.

“Last year, people left saying, ‘You better have this again next year,’ ” Forth said.

The money raised at the Hoedown will go toward the DMA’s new marketing program.

The end goal is to promote Monroe throughout Washington, Forth said. The organization has already reached out to and has begun working with a marketing firm that will help develop the statewide strategy and marketing materials, she said.
