EvergreenHealth Monroe is seeking volunteers for everything from greeting visitors to assisting staff in the medical surgical unit.
“Our volunteer program generates thousands of hours of community service each year, and the value of this time is worth much more than any amount of dollars saved,” said Renée Jensen, chief administrative officer at EvergreenHealth Monroe, in a news release. “The dedicated community members who volunteer their time enhance the patient experience and help providers focus solely on delivering the best care.”
Monroe resident Tom Peterson, 84, has been volunteering since 2003.
“My job is to make patients feel calm and comfortable when they first check-in, at a time when they are most likely feeling nervous,” Peterson said in a news release. “I’m here to help people and make sure they have a positive experience. I couldn’t be happier to have found this position.”
People interested in the volunteer program can fill out an application here or call 360-794-1489.
The program requires a six-month commitment of one two- to four-hour shift per week. Volunteers must be at least 18.
