The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified Junior Silva as the 24-year-old Monroe man whose body was recovered from the Skykomish River on Saturday.
Silva was swimming at Eagle Falls, between Index and Baring, with a friend on Memorial Day, according to an Instagram post by his sister. She wrote the current was too strong, and her brother was carried down river while his friend made it to shore.
The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue and Dive Team Units recovered Silva’s body in about 10 feet of water about 50 yards upriver on Saturday, according to a news release.
The examiner’s office has listed the cause of death as drowning and manner as an accident.
A dive team searched the area on May 28, but Gold Bar Fire District 26 announced the rescue switched to recovery around 5:30 p.m. SnoHAWK 10 was deployed several times last week.
