Monday night at about 10:24 p.m., Monroe police officers were dispatched to the report of a
burglary that had occurred at the AT&T Store in the 19100 block of US 2.
Upon arrival officers discovered that one of the glass doors of the store had been broken to gain entry to the store and several cell phones taken.
A witness reported seeing a suspicious vehicle described as a dark colored four-door Ford sedan with dark tinted windows parked in front of a nearby business that was closed. While walking in the area, the witness reported hearing glass falling and then observing the suspicious vehicle drive away.
A second witness was standing outside when he saw three subjects get out of the vehicle. He reported that one of the subjects opened the trunk and then closed it before all three of them walked to the west side of the AT&T store and started looking in the store's windows. At that time, one of the subjects kicked at the front door and another started to hit the glass with an unknown object until it broke. They then entered the store and came out with "stuffGÇ¥ and ran back to the vehicle.
A Snohomish County Sheriff's Deputy observed a vehicle matching the description heading westbound on US 2. After turning to attempt a stop on the vehicle, the deputy noticed a box on the side of the road that had not been there earlier.
The vehicle was stopped at the intersection of US 2 and Fryelands. There were three males and one female in the vehicle. As one of the suspects exited the vehicle, broken glass pieces were found on his shoes and inside the vehicle. A piece of a cardboard box with a label that had the address of the AT&T store in Monroe on it was found on the female subject. One of the witnesses positively identified the vehicle as the one he had seen parked near the AT&T store.
A Monroe Sergeant checked the area where the Deputy had reported seeing a box on the side of the road. A box containing cell phones was recovered as evidence. The vehicle was impounded to the Monroe Police Department as evidence pending a search warrant.
A man, age 19 of Renton and a woman,19, of Kent, were taken into custody and transported to the Snohomish County Jail for booking on Second Degree Burglary and First Degree Theft. A 16-year-old male from Seattle and 15-year-old male from Renton were transported to the Denny Youth Center for booking on Second Degree Burglary and First Degree Theft.
