Gibby and Nino Home Fire Prevention Campaign cofounders Gerry and Bonnie Gibson spent time installing smoke alarms with firefighters from Snohomish County Fire District 5 recently as a part of their fire prevention campaign and commitment to saving lives.
The Sultan residents started the nonprofit after the death of their son, Greg "GibbyGÇ¥ Gibson, in January. Greg died with his dog, Nino, in his Shoreline home, which had no working smoke detectors. Their daughters, Emily Bennett and Colleen Rowe, are treasurer and secretary, respectively, and Greg's partner, Ben Arao, serves as the president.
The goal is to save at least one life through the installation of smoke detectors and fire prevention education.
The Gibson's were joined by their neighbor, Rich Bender, and District 5 firefighters Jeff Williams and Ron Bertholf, on Saturday, April 16. Together, they installed 10 smoke alarms for residents residing in the Cherry Hill Estates mobile home park in Sultan.
