Gold Bar woman wins $50K from "Frogger' scratch ticket impulse buy

On her way out of the Gold Bar Market on Aug. 20, Elizhava Lazella grabbed a flyer for the upcoming Index festival. It wasn't until she arrived home that she realized she owed the clerk a dollar for the flyer, so she went back the next day.

That's when she saw the "FroggerGÇ¥ scratch ticket in the case.

"I've been playing for years and years,GÇ¥ Lazella said of Washington'sLottery scratch tickets. The Gold Bar resident said she was reminded of how she used to play the video game with her children, so she bought one of the scratch tickets.

Lazella said she forgot about the scratch ticket until her husband, Jeff Dwor, came home, when the two worked on the ticket together. When her husband told her she'd just won $50,000, she couldn't believe it.

"I kept going, "No,' he said, "Yes,' I said, "No.'GÇ¥ Lazella went back to the market. "And sure enough, it was $50,000.GÇ¥

Lazella, who owns Embroidery for the Soul in Sultan, said she planned to go to Costco last week and buy $500 worth of goods for the Volunteers of America Western Washington food bank there.

A good amount of it went to paying off all of her credit cards, she said.

"I've got about $16,000 left, which we're going to hold on to,GÇ¥ she said, adding some will probably end up going toward some home improvement projects.

The Gold Bar Market is at 109 Croft Ave. W.
