Good schools, good for business

Dear Editor,
Good schools are good for business. As a local business owner I have met many new families who were attracted to our community because of our public schools. These families shop at local stores, purchase local services and pay local taxes. A strong public education system attracts new families/customers.
That is one of the reasons I am voting YES to renew the expiring "learningGÇ¥ levy and for the proposed Educational Technology Levy.
The first proposal is a renewal of existing local support schools GÇô it is not a new tax but a replacement. Like a magazine subscription, local school tax dollars expire and must be renewed by voters in order to continue. The current levy expires in December 2014. A second request on the ballot helps fill the gap our schools are experiencing between the skills and access young people need with technology and our schools' aging system and equipment.
In addition to owning a small business I am also the mother of a public school student. I see every day the improvements our schools are making and with this community's help passing these two levies we can keep the momentum going.
Good schools are good for business. Join me in voting YES to keep our schools heading the right direction GÇô UP!
Sincerely,
Meghan Manning
