Grace Uteva Woodhull, 88, longtime Gold Bar resident, known best to her friends as “UTE,” passed away quietly at home among family and friends on January 17, 2017, following a short battle after Christmas that she could not overcome.
Grace was born in Kansas City, Missouri on January 12, 1929, to Felix and Mabel Entenmann. At a young age the family relocated to Spokane Washington, where Grace graduated high school from John Rogers High. In 1956 she married her husband of 50 years, Verl, and they moved to the Everett area. In the early 1960’s they moved to Gold Bar, Washington where they remained for the rest of their lives.
Grace and Verl both worked for Ideal Cement, located near the Duwamish River, south of Seattle. Grace was a payroll administrator and Verl was an electrician. They made the commute daily from Gold Bar to Seattle until they retired in 1986.
Grace loved her hummingbirds, outside gardening and doing crafts such as jewelry making. She was a volunteer at Evergreen Hospital in Monroe and was awarded Volunteer of the Year in 2015. She was active in the local VFW ladies auxiliary. She was a devoted walker, before and after hip surgery.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband Verl, and siblings Felix, Corrine, and George. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law and in-laws by marriage.
There will be a celebration of her life at a time to be determined in the future.
