It's official: Monroe Fair Days proclamation goes through

Monroe Mayor Geoffrey Thomas read the formal Monroe Fair Days Proclamation during the regular business meeting of the Monroe City Council on Tuesday, Aug. 18.

Copies of the proclamation were presented to Monroe Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Una Wirkebau and Evergreen Fair Advisory Board Vice Chair Rick Merrill.

The 12-day Evergreen State Fair will open on Thursday, Aug. 27 and run through Monday, Sept. 7. The traditional Monroe Fair Days Parade will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, on West Main Street.

A street fair following the parade will feature numerous Farm to Table Famers Market vendors, including Tualco Valley Produce, The Vet Chef, Cedar Ridge Winery, Sammich Nutters and TJ & CJ's Honeyhuggers.
