Junk Sisterhood co-owner Leslie Willmann is curating a large handcrafted market at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds that will include more than 70 local vendors, demos, food trucks and live music.
“I’ve been telling people it’s not your mama’s craft,” said Willmann, who opened Junk Sisterhood in downtown Monroe in spring 2017. “This one is more Pinterest and Etsy inspired.”
There are a lot of vintage and antique shows at the fairgrounds, Willmann said, but not many events that highlight local crafters.
That’s where The Make Sale comes in.
“Most of them are new artisans, and it was juried,” Willmann said, “so they had to send in pictures as well as information about their previous experience.”
The Make Sale takes place 5-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22. The cost is $5, which covers both days of the handcrafted market, and children under 12 and military personnel get in free.
“We’re producing it ourselves, but several of the vendors from other shops are going to be vendors at our show,” Willmann said.
Vendors are paying for their booths, while Willmann and team are providing the advertising.
“I tell people, ‘You bring your A game and we’ll bring the customers,’” she said.
