On Jan. 5, Cub Scout Pack 52 learned the ins and outs of knife safety from guest speaker Jim Johnston of Sultan. After Johnston's presentation, each Scout was given the opportunity to practice their newly learned knife-safety techniques while carving a bar of soap. For their participation, the scouts received their "Whittling Chip,GÇ¥ which certifies that they had "demonstrated knowledge of, and skill in, the use of a personal pocketknife.GÇ¥
