Local youth to experience One Homeless Night for cold weather shelter

One Homeless Night is an event held at the Monroe Cold Weather Shelter by the youth from Morning Star Lutheran Church, The lockout will start Saturday, November 8 at 4 p.m. and end Sunday, November 9 at 8 a.m.
One Homeless Night is aimed at raising awareness of what homeless families face, as well as to raise funds for the Monroe Cold Weather Shelter's efforts to help the homeless in Snohomish County.
At the One Homeless Night Lockout, teens ages 13-18 will sleep outdoors, in cardboard boxes, at the Cold Weather Shelter.
An evening of activities designed to give youth a glimpse into the lives of those who have to depend on others for food and shelter is planned. The teens will also be knocking on doors, asking for monetary donations for the Cold Weather Shelter. Their goal is to raise enough money for the shelter to hire a shelter manager.
The youth from Morning Star are encouraging their friends, family, congregation members and local residents to stop by the shelter during the event with monetary donations, non-perishable food items, or personal hygiene items that someone living on the street could use.
Donations may also be sent to:
