The city of Monroe helped Main Street Caf+¬ owner Sandra Adkins and her staff celebrate the restaurant's six-month anniversary during a ribbon-cutting ceremony held on Thursday, May 26.
The Main Street Caf+¬ is located in the former Hitching Post site at 107 W. Main St., and open 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. seven days a week.
The event was attended by Monroe Mayor Geoffrey Thomas, Monroe City Councilmember Jim Kamp, Yvonne Gallardo-Van Ornam and Shelley Nyhammer from the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, city of Monroe executive assistant Pam Baker and Main Street Caf+¬ staffers Jessica Dexter, Shirley Smith, Jen "J.P.GÇ¥ Hauff and Michael Joseph McMahill-Darmond.
Baker touted Adkins' cinnamon rolls as "the best.GÇ¥
The Main Street Caf+¬ is still working to streamline customer service and fine-tune restaurant operations. They've been bringing in new equipment, Adkins said, and are working to ensure their customers have a positive experience when they enjoy a meal there.-á
"We thank the community for their support and their patience with us as we evolve,GÇ¥ Smith said.
The mayor congratulated Adkins and her staff.
"Thank you very much for coming and investing here in our town,GÇ¥ Thomas said. "It's been a wonderful six months.GÇ¥
