On March 8, students, parents and faculty of Hidden River Middle School, along with members of High Point Church, Maltby, joined forces for a community event to package meals for starving and needy children around the world.
The event took place at Hidden River and consisted of approximately eight people clustering around each table, each pouring a specific food item (lentils, spice, chicken or rice) into sealable bags. The food items were purchased from "Children of the Nations,GÇ¥ a not-for-profit organization specializing in creating "Meal Marathons.GÇ¥
The "Marathon" lasted approximately 1 1/2 hours, resulting in the packaging of over 17,000 meals.
