The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls and the Sultan-Monroe Masonic Lodge held a fun run color walk, Sunday, Sept. 11 at Sky River Park, raising funds for the Hilarity for Charity Alzheimer's foundation and Scholarships for Monroe and Sultan High Schools.
The morning started with a kids walk, followed by a moment of silence in memory of the victims of 9/11. After that, the walk started with a burst of color, with around 160 people participating, raising $20,000 for the two charities. Hilarity for Charity will receive $17,000, and $3,000 will go to the Sultan-Monroe Lodge's local education fund.
Organizers thank Evergreen Speedway for donating water, ZipFizz energy drink for its support and donations of water bottles, color packets and monetary donation and the Monroe Plaza Starbucks donating coffee for volunteers.
