Molina Healthcare provides free weekend flu shots in Monroe

Molina Healthcare provided free flu shots in Monroe over the weekend.

The event took place from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Sea Mar Community Health Center on West Main Street in Monroe. The free vaccinations were offered on a first come-first served basis, as a way of promoting community wellness. The flu shots will protect patients against the primary types of flu strains that cause the majority of illness during the flu season.-á

"Getting a flu shot is the most effective way to prevent getting the virus,GÇ¥ said Molina Healthcare of Washington Chief Medical Officer Frances Gough. "It's particularly important for those at risk of flu complications, such as pregnant women, people over 65 and those with chronic conditions. It is great to see so many people come out to this event to take advantage of this free service and protect their health this flu season.GÇ¥
