The Monroe gallery that used to feature their work has been closed for years, but the painters of the Sky Valley Artists' Guild still work together to improve their work and to learn, as they have for more than 20 years.
And they also still sell their works as a group, but now art lovers have to wait for special occasions to see it all in one place.
This weekend, for three days, the artists will hold a gallery and art sale at the home of noted watercolorist Joan Pinney.
Pinney has been holding shows at her home, during which she simply strips her walls during the holidays, for about six years now, she said.
Many of the artists involved were once part of the Open Door Gallery, which Pinney ran in Monroe until selling it in 1996, after which it closed in another year.
"I still have people say they miss that gallery so much. It was a unique thing," said Pinney. "Like the Hudson School of painters on the East Coast, we painted together so much our styles began to tie in to each other. We had a really good following."
Artists included in the showing, which will include cookies and refreshments, are Valerie Hamlin, Dee Little, Clara Russel, Jeanne Whitney, Sally Ohlsen, Joan Pinney and Priscilla Zwaldo.
The showing, including watercolors, oils, prints, jewelry and original crafts, will take place Dec. 7 and 8 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 9 from 2-5 p.m. at 21302 Echo Lake Rd.
