The Monroe Community Coalition will host Adverse Childhood Experiences Study (ACES) training 6-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, at the Monroe High School Performing Arts Center. The training is open to the community.
ACES research has found certain traumatic experiences can serve as risk factors for things like social problems, health and behavioral issues and cognitive impairment. The theory introduces the concept of "Kernels,GÇ¥ which are different evidence-based strategies that can be implemented in the classroom to help mitigate the effects of traumatic childhood experiences.
Monroe Community Coalition coordinator Joe Neigel introduced ACES at Park Place Middle School during the 2014GÇô15 school year, and has brought the training to Monroe High School.
Monroe High School is located at 17001 Tester Road in Monroe. To sign up for the training, email Joe Neigel at neigelj@monroe.wednet.edu. For more information about the coalition, visit monroecommunitycoalition.com.
