About every four months, Katie and Chris Ciarcia have to repair or replace something at their rural home.
That's because vandalism along High Rock Road has grown common, they say. And so far they have been powerless to stop it.
But last month, they captured an act of vandalism on a security camera, and now they are hoping for help in identifying the culprit.
"We captured it on surveillance," said Katie Ciarcia.
It had been a busy night for vandals, she said. Garbage cans and recycle bins had been dumped up and down the road.
It wasn't the first time.
"It was the third time we've lost a bin," said Ciarcia, who has lived on High Rock Road for nine years. "And we've replaced our mailbox seven times."
They've also lost decorative gargoyles and a CB radio was stolen from a dump truck that belonged to a friend. And once they found bullet holes in their wooden door.
Calling police hasn't stopped the damage. Unless damage totals $5,000 or more, police tell them to go online and fill out a report, Katie said.
So the Ciarcias installed security cameras, hoping to find out who has targeted their neighborhood.
Once, the camera itself was stolen.
"It was on a pole 15 feet high, and they took the camera off it," said Katie.
But Sunday, June 23, the Ciarcias captured images of a white pickup truck veering off the road and smashing their garbage can and recycle bin.
It was followed by a black SUV with raised suspension.
The Ciarcias hope anyone with information will call 911 and request a call from a deputy. Anonymous tips can be left at http://sheriff.snoco.org/Sheriff_Services/SCSO_Tip_Line.htm.-á
