On Saturday, May 10, the Monroe Garden Club will hold its annual plant sale, and the East County Senior Center will hold a bake sale. These events will be held at the East County Senior Center, 276 Sky River Pkwy. in Monroe.
The plant sale will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of the senior center. A sampling of plants includes vegetable and herb starts, hostas, bleeding hearts, hydrangeas, irises, sedums, and ornamental grasses. Also available will be a variety of handcrafted garden-themed items made by club members.
The garden club will accept plant donations from noon to 5 p.m., Friday, May 9, at the senior center. All plants must be potted and labeled as to variety and planting conditions.
The proceeds from the plant sale will provide for a scholarship that will be awarded to a Monroe High School senior going into the horticultural field, and it also funds several community beautification projects.

The senior center's bake sale will be held inside the center beginning at 9 a.m. According to Linda Cline, a member of the senior center's board of directors, proceeds will be utilized to benefit senior center activities.
