Monroe Garden Club plant sale, spring bazaar on May 9

On Saturday, May 9, the Monroe Garden Club will hold its annual plant sale, and the East County Senior Center will hold a spring bazaar. Both events will be held at the East County Senior Center (276 Sky River Pkwy.) in Monroe.

The plant sale will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of the senior center. A sampling of plants will be available, including vegetable starts, hostas, columbine, hydrangeas, irises, flowering currants, hardy fuchsias and rhubarb. Also available will be a variety of handcrafted garden-themed items made by club members. Payment methods are cash or check only.

The garden club will accept plant donations from the public from noon to 5 p.m., on Friday, May 8, at the senior center. All plants must be potted and labeled as to variety and planting conditions, and include maturity size.

The proceeds from the plant sale go toward a scholarship that will be awarded to a Monroe High School senior going into the horticultural field, and it also funds several community beautification projects.
