Monroe given flag once flown over US capitol

During a meeting with staff from United States Congresswoman Suzan DelBene's office, Monroe Mayor Geoffrey Thomas was presented with an honorary centennial flag that was flown in Washington, D.C. over the nation's capitol.
Monroe's flag was one of several to be presented to Sky Valley cities. DelBene attended Sultan's Veterans Day Celebration in November of 2013 to present the cities of Sultan, Gold Bar and Index with celebratory flags, all of which had been flown in Washington, D.C. The flags were presented to Mayor Carolyn Eslick of Sultan, Mayor Joe Beavers of Gold Bar and Index Town Councilman Ed Boress.
