Monroe Historical Society holding annual membership meeting

The Monroe Historical Society will holds its annual membership meeting and program at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, at the Monroe Library, 1070 Village Way.

Historic preservation specialist Cara Bertron and Snohomish County Economic and Cultural Development Manager Wendy Poischbeg will discuss last year's historic resources scan in unincorporated parts of the county, which mapped more than 14,000 properties for age and type. About 8,000 buildings, homes and barns were field-surveyed for historic integrity and architectural character for potential inclusion in the county's register of historic properties. Bertron and Poischbeg will also share next steps for completing inventory in areas that include along Ben Howard Road and in the Tualco Valley.

The meeting is open to everyone. For more information, contact the Monroe Historical Society at 360-217-7223 or visit monroehistoricalsociety.org.
