Children's Programs:
Ready Readers: Baby and Me Storytime GÇô Tuesdays, Dec. 4 and 11, 10:30 a.m. Stories, songs, rhymes, and activities designed to inspire a love of reading. Playtime follows. For newborns through 18 months. Caregiver required.
Ready Readers: Toddler Storytime GÇô Wednesdays, Dec.5 and 12, 10:30 a.m. Stories, music and movements designed to nurture the desire to read in toddlers. Playtime or craft may follow. For ages 18 months to 3 years. Caregiver required.
Ready Readers: Preschool Storytime GÇô Thursdays, Dec. 6 and 13, 10 a.m. Books, sing-along songs and creative activities designed to prepare young minds for reading. For ages 3 to 5 years.
Ready Readers: Preschool Storytime (Bilingual)-á GÇô Thursdays, Dec. 6 and 13, 11 a.m. Books, sing-along songs and creative activities designed to prepare young minds for reading. For ages 3 to 5 years. Presented in English and Spanish.
Mission Good Grades: Meet the Reptile Man GÇô Saturday, Dec. 8, 2 p.m. Reptile Man Scott Peterson, will present live animals, and then participants can learn how to use library databases to do research and learn even more about animals, people, places, and much more.
Reading with Rover GÇô Saturday, Dec. 22, 11 a.m. The Reading with Rover program is designed to help kids strengthen reading skills and improve reading confidence.
Winter Extravaganza: Gingerbread House Workshop - Friday, Dec. 21, 2 p.m. Construct a cottage using sweet confections. Space is limited, so please pre-register online.
Winter Extravaganza: Mikey Mike Music, Winter Songs GÇô Thursday, Dec. 27, 1 p.m. Mikey Mike shares winter melodies for children and families.
Winter Extravaganza: Movie Matinee, "BraveGÇ¥ GÇô Friday, Dec. 28, 1 p.m. A DVD of the movie will be given out as a raffle prize at the end of the show! Rated PG. 100 minutes.
Winter Extravaganza: Charlie the Noise Guy GÇô Saturday, Dec. 29, 1 p.m. Charlie the Noise Guy entertains with winter stories spruced up with sound effects, funny voices, and humor.
Teen Programs:
Monroe Library Teen Advisory Board GÇô Tuesday, Dec. 4, 3 p.m. Teens are invited to share their ideas for library programs, purchases and improvements. The group will also discuss what everyone's been reading, have some snacks, and participate in an activity or craft. Contact Teen Librarian Charles Pratt at cpratt@sno-isle.org for more details.
Monroe's Got Talent GÇô Friday, Dec. 7, 6 p.m. Go to the Monroe YMCA for the third annual Monroe's Got Talent competition, hosted by the YMCA and Monroe Library. Sing, dance, read some original poetry, put on a skit, or show off an unusual or noteworthy talent for a chance to win prizes. For teens ages 12-18 or in grades 6-12.
After School Gaming GÇô Monday, Dec. 17, 3 p.m. Play video games with your friends before tackling homework. Snacks are provided.
Adult Programs:
ESL Talk Time GÇô Mondays, Dec. 3, 10 and 17, 7 p.m. A time for adults to practice speaking English in a friendly and supportive setting. This free, drop-in program is led by a library volunteer.
Librarians as Information Guides: Smart Investing Resources GÇô Tuesday, Dec. 4, 7 p.m. Learn to use online library resources to get information on holdings or potential investments. Basic computer skills required. Seating is limited, so please preregister.
Monroe Wednesday Writers GÇô Wednesdays, Dec. 5, 12, 19 and 26, 7 p.m. Find weekly support and writing guidance. The group is led by published author Bernadette Pajer. All writers welcome, fiction and nonfiction.
Basic Food Outreach GÇô Tuesday, Dec. 11, noon. Stop by the table in the lobby between noon and 2 p.m. to get information regarding the DSHS Basic Food Program.
Monroe Book Group: "Suite FrancaiseGÇ¥ GÇô Tuesday, Dec. 11, 7 p.m. This month's selection is "Suite FrancaiseGÇ¥ by Irene Nemirovsky. Copies are available for checkout at the customer service desk.
Beginning Catalog and Internet GÇô Saturday, Dec. 15, 10 a.m. Learn to search the internet, access library databases, set up an email account and use the library catalog. Please preregister at the Information Desk or by calling.
