Scott Freshman has joined the staff of the Monroe Monitor, stepping into the ad-sales role formerly held by Deb Robinson, who held the position for more than 20 years before moving on to other pursuits in May.
After six years working at the Everett-area Chamber of Commerce, Freshman worked for the phone directory publisher of Yellow Book for six and half years before coming to the Monitor.
Prior to his career in sales, Freshman was a 5th and 6th grade teacher.
A graduate of UCLA, he is married and a father of two, a son, 22 and a daughter, 20, who is the author of two novels, and just graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in business, with plans to take a job in Los Angeles. His wife curates the Rose Theater Art Galleries, a leading online gallery company. She is also an artist and a novelist. Her book, The Singing Dagger, is available on Amazon.
In his leisure time, Freshman enjoys performing in community theater, which he discovered while in college. He has an extensive history of singing in choir, and mostly performs in musicals.
He will appear in The Odd Couple in the role of Murray, a police officer, August 15, at the historic Everett Theater.
The Monitor also welcomes summer interns Elana Pigeon and Jesse Kline.
Pigeon, a communications major at Western Washington University, was the recipient of the Monroe Monitor's first-ever communications scholarship last year.
And Kline completed his senior culminating challenge with the Monroe Monitor before graduating this summer.
Both talented young writers will produce content for the Monroe Monitor over the course of the summer.
