Monroe Police searching for crowbar assault suspect

Attack reportedly occurred over fight about sitting in front seat

By Brandon Macz

Monroe Police report a man was hospitalized after his mother’s boyfriend struck him in the head with a crowbar outside the Department of Social and Health Services on Monday.

MPD administrative director Debbie Willis tells the Monitor the family had been outside DSHS when an argument started over who was going to sit in the front seat of their vehicle.

The suspect — the boyfriend of the mother of the victim — reportedly went into the back seat, and then struck the victim in the head with the crowbar. Willis reports the suspect had been drinking, and fled after the alleged assault.

The victim only knew the suspect’s first name, and the family did not know how to spell his last name, according to Willis.

This case remains under investigation.
