A new business called Monroe Psychic offers their clientele an alternative way to seek a connection with their spiritual selves.
Located on Main Street in downtown Monroe, Monroe Psychic co-founder Loretta Collins offers palm reading, tarot card services, full-life psychic readings, chakra balancing, meditation and more. Her business partner, Flora, provides the same services and also has the ability to speak Spanish. The two are just beginning to grow their business and are in the process of establishing new clientele.
Collins, who recently moved to the Pacific Northwest from Chicago, currently lives in the Seattle area. She and her husband are looking for a home in Monroe.
"Hopefully we'll find something and get settled in because I really do love Monroe,GÇ¥ said Collins. "I love the people and the energy here, it's fantastic.GÇ¥
"I like Seattle a lot too, but it's a little noisy for me,GÇ¥ she continued. "I like Monroe because it's subtle; it's down to earth. Everybody's so nice here, so I decided I wanted to establish my business here.GÇ¥
Collins has been involved with navigating spiritual energy her entire life.
"I was born with a double layer of skin which is called a veil,GÇ¥ said Collins. "It's kind of a spiritual thing, it allows you to kind of see and feel the energy of different people.GÇ¥
Spiritual aptitude seems to run in her family; when she was a child growing up she remembers her grandmother doing tarot card readings frequently. She also recalls her grandmother's friends visiting on a regular basis seeking relationship advice and other guidance.
While Collins is willing to offer guidance for any area of a person's life, she specializes in relationship advice, along with family and career guidance. Individuals hoping for clarification on specific things like whether or not they are with the right relationship partner or whether or not they are in the correct profession may be able to receive some direction by coming to Monroe Psychic.
The most basic reading available at Monroe Psychic is a palm reading, during which the lines of the palm are examined and interpreted.
The next step up from a palm reading is a Tarot card reading. Tarot card decks are typically divided into two distinct parts that are designated as the Major and Minor Arcana. The Major Arcanum often includes cards like the fool, the hanged man, death, judgment, the moon, the devil and many others. The Minor Arcana are divided up into suits, not unlike regular playing cards. Typical suits in a tarot deck generally include swords, pentacles, rods or wands, and cups.
Each card in a tarot deck has meaning, and often the meaning is altered depending on if the card is oriented in an upside down direction when it's laid down during a reading. Essentially, tarot cards are an alternative way to obtain guidance via a spiritual groundwork which can be laid out and then interpreted by an experienced tarot card reader.
The full-life psychic reading offered at Monroe Psychic is the most comprehensive type of reading and takes the longest amount of time. In order for a physic reading to be done, Collins needs her client's full name and date of birth. Phone readings are also available, but to Collins, the connection is much stronger when she interacts with her clients in person.
Additionally, Monroe Psychic does chakra balancing, which is sort of a chiropractic service for a person's energy. It is said that human beings have seven main chakras, which are sometimes referred to as the body's energy centers or channels in which energy flows through the body.
Motivated by a desire to help people, Collins hopes to stay in Monroe for a long time.
