By Brandon Macz

The Monroe School Board will hold a special meeting at 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, to interview candidates and select an appointee to to the vacant District No. 1 seat.

The District No. 1 seat had been held by Jason Hutchinson for more than four years, but he stepped down at the end of May to pursue a business ownership opportunity in his hometown of Walla Walla.

The district sought applications to fill that seat in June, and applications were due by July 9.

The meeting to interview candidates will be held at the Monroe School District Administration Office, 200 E. Fremont St.
