Monroe transportation measure pro/con committee members sought

The Monroe Transportation Benefit District Board is currently seeking volunteers to be appointed to Ballot Measure Argument (pro/con) Committees for the proposed ballot proposition slated for the August 5, 2014, primary election.
The ballot proposition would authorize the imposition of a sales and use tax in the amount of two-tenths of one percent (0.2 %) within the boundaries of the district for a period of ten years in order to fund or finance transportation improvements. The funds generated by the Transportation Benefit District would be used for transportation improvements that preserve, maintain and operate the existing transportation infrastructure of the city, specifically, the preservation of City of Monroe streets including pavement repair, overlay, chip seal and patching.
The deadline to volunteer has been extended to Thursday, May 6, 2014.
Please see the Snohomish County 2014 Election Information Guide and Local Voters' Pamphlet Administrative Rules for more information; or contact Snohomish County Elections at (425) 388-3444.
Selections are to be made and confirmed at the Transportation Benefit District Board Special Meeting on May 6 at 6 p.m.
To volunteer, please submit your name, contact information (phone/address/email), and statement of interest indicating for which committee you are volunteering (pro or con committee) to the Monroe City Clerk's Office: esmoot@monroewa.gov; 806 W.
