Muslims for Life blood drive in Monroe

Monroe's Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is hosting its annual Muslims for Life blood drive this weekend, a nationwide effort to honor the lives lost during the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, at the Bait-ul-Ehsaan Mosque, also known as the Abode of Kindness, 23515 Old Owen Road in Monroe. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community started organizing blood drives in 2011, to honor the victims of Sept. 11 and promote the teachings of Islam regarding the sanctity of life. Since its inception, the Muslims for Life campaign has coordinated 1,074 blood drives, collecting enough blood to potentially save more than 118,000 lives.

This is the second annual blood drive in Monroe. For more information on the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, visit amiseattle.org.
