On Thursday, June 6, the Monroe American Legion Post 58 presented awards to four students at Park Place Middle School who researched and prepared an essay dealing with a current event issue. Grayson McGovern and Ryler Hope earned first place scholarship medals and certificates. Justin Folz and Tristian Norton earned second place certificates.
The following American Legion members were installed as officers for 2013/14: Commander, Neal Agachinsky; 1st Vice Commander, Jimmie Graham; 2nd Vice Commander, Vacant; Adjutant, Bob Critser; Finance Officer, Larry Woods; Service Officer, Jerry Stackpole; Chaplain, Boyd Booze; and Sergeant-at-Arms, Bruce Toysen.
