Nominations are being accepted through May 15, for the Cities of Sultan and Gold Bar's annual Mayor's Youth Achievement Award. This award recognizes the accomplishments of high-school age students who live in the Sultan School District; home-school students are also eligible.
The goal of the award is to emphasize the achievements of the area's young people, by recognizing those who have distinguished themselves in community service, politics, arts and entertainment, academics, athletics, citizenship or who have overcome obstacles to accomplish their goals.-á
"The Sky Valley has teachers and students who win regional and national awards.-á It is an absolute joy to see how much good these students accomplish during their high school years,GÇ¥ said Brian Copple, Sky Valley Chamber president in a press release.
The mayors of Sultan and Gold Bar will present separate awards at Sultan High School's annual Academic Awards Ceremonies on May 28, beginning at 6 p.m., at Sultan High School (13715 310th Ave. S.E.). Nominations will be evaluated based on a description of the student's achievements.
Only students who are nominated on the provided forms will be considered to receive the award.-á
Nomination forms are available at Sultan and Gold Bar City Halls, Sultan Library, Visitor Information Center and Sultan High School.
