People and teddy bears get free checkups this month at VGH

Valley General Hospital, along with affiliated partners EvergreenHealth and the Halvorson Cancer Center, are welcoming the community to the Healthiest Best Fair on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
There will be free screening stations that include blood draws, cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure and colon and skin cancer screenings.
There will also be digital 3D mammography, lots of education and information, a kids' activity area, a raffle and health-related vendors.
One unusual educational item will be a 30-foot inflatable walk-through colon, which will help people understand the risks of prostate and colon cancers and how to protect one's health.
Screening times are:
Cholesterol/Glucose: available 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Blood Pressure: available 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Prostate Cancer (PSA): available 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Skin Cancer: available 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Kids who need a little companionship to comfort them through a visit with a health professional can bring a stuffed toy to the Teddy Bear Hospital where their favorite teddy bear can get a checkup and repairs from the specially-trained teddy bear doctors and nurses.
