Former Monroe City Salary Commissioner Brian Coonan was appointed to the Monroe Planning Commission on Tuesday, Aug. 25. As a result of the appointment, his seat on the salary commission was resigned.
City officials hope to fill the vacancy on the salary commission, along with another vacancy on the planning commission, as longtime public servant and Planning Commissioner Wayne Rodland has announced his intention to resign in September.
Councilmember Kurt Goering encouraged Mayor Geoffrey Thomas and city staff to find a way to honor Rodland for his years of service to the city.
