Plane flips on landing, pilot unhurt

A Monroe pilot experienced a very rocky landing on Wednesday, Dec. 3, but fortunately, he walked away without injury.
Monroe Police and Fire Departments responded to the incident at approximately 3:01 p.m., on Wednesday afternoon. The airplane, a Glasair GlaStar kit aircraft, flipped over when it left the runway as the 66-year-old pilot attempted to land the plane.
The pilot told the police that he had gone for a relaxing ride by himself, and was in the process of returning to the airfield when the airplane veered to the left and flipped over onto its top.
The Monroe Police Department is investigating the incident and the Federal Aviation Administration has been notified.
The incident occurred at the Firstair Field airport, which is a small, privately-owned airport located west of the Evergreen State Fairgrounds on the north side of U.S. 2.
