Two Monroe men were arrested the same day for allegedly impeding the efforts of law enforcement.
Adrian Servin was taken into custody on Friday, May 11, after he reportedly chained himself to a car Monroe Police were attempting to have towed.
Police report the 24-year-old angrily confronted officers, who had been monitoring a group of vehicles that appeared to be abandoned in a cul-de-sac on the 15200 block of 179th Avenue Southeast.
Police had responded to a complaint about the cars the day before. Patrol officers accompanied the agency’s community service officer to the residence.
“Upon arrival she found several vehicles, most of them had expired tabs and appeared to be parked there for a few weeks,” according to an MPD news release. “They had debris built up underneath the vehicles.”
One of the cars was parked on the sidewalk, on which there was a written warning. Officers tagged several of the vehicles. The owner had 24 hours to remove them.
All six of the cars were still there the next day, and were subsequently impounded, according to the release.
Servin reportedly ran into his garage and grabbed a chain after speaking with police.
“He attempted to place the chain around the tires and placed his leg under the vehicle to obstruct the tow of the vehicle,” according to the release. “Officers had to pull him out from underneath the vehicle and restrain him.”
That same day an officer tried to stop Leland Wolcott at the intersection of West Main and West Fremont streets. The 44-year-old, who had a felony warrant out for forgery, allegedly ran when the officer got out of his patrol car and asked him to stop, according to a release.
“The subject turned and said ‘I’m sorry’ and took off running through a parking lot after jumping over a 3-foot-tall concrete wall,” according to the release.
The officer pursued him on foot. The chase took him west on South Madison Street. Wolcott allegedly apologized repeatedly as he ran from the officer.
They entered a backyard and the homeowner reportedly pushed Wolcott as he ran by.
“The suspect fell to the ground which allowed the officer to grab his arm and take him into custody,” according to the release.
Both men were booked into the Snohomish County Jail, Wolcott for resisting arrest and his warrant, and Servin for obstruction.
