A 26-year-old Gold Bar man was sent to the hospital and then to jail following a high-speed chase on State Route 2 on Saturday afternoon, according to Monroe Police.
A news release states the man and a 29-year-old Arlington woman were inside a stolen gold Mazda Miata at a parking lot near SR-2 and Main Street when police received a report the vehicle had been sited there around 1 p.m. on Saturday.
When the vehicle left the parking lot shortly after, officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the Gold Bar man reportedly accelerated and continued eastbound on SR-2.
The release states the driver hit the brakes before striking the back of a Ford Excursion. He then allegedly fled on foot, jumping over a barrier and falling down a 40-foot embankment.
Officers attended to the Gold Bar man after placing him in custody, the release states, and an aid car was called in to assist with removing him from the embankment. He was transported to EvergreenHealth Monroe for minor injuries, according to the release, and the woman was taken to the hospital for a head injury.
After his hospitalization, the suspect was booked into Snohomish County Jail on possession of a stolen vehicle, vehicular assault and eluding charges. The Arlington woman is also being investigated for possession of a stolen vehicle, according to Monroe Police.
