Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, located in Startup, is raffling off a three-story Victorian style dollhouse in an effort to support Lutheran World Relief, a nonprofit organization that performs extensive charity outreach all over the world.
Donated by Sultan residents Robert and Janet Peterson, the dollhouse is furnished and features fully functional doors and windows throughout. Raffle tickets are $1 each and can be purchased at Coastal Community Bank in Sultan or through Shepherd of the Valley church members.
The dollhouse, which stands over four feet in height, includes a "cedar shakeGÇ¥ roof, covered front porch and a turret. The interior wallpapering was done by hand. There are curtains on the windows, throw rugs on the floors and pictures hanging from the walls.
"You have to see this dollhouse to believe it,GÇ¥ said the raffle coordinator, Iris Jensen.
The dollhouse will be on display at the Shepherd's annual fall bazaar, which will take place on Nov. 15 and 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church, located at 36817 143rd Pl. S.E. in Startup. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on both days during the bazaar.
The fall bazaar will feature locally-made handcrafted items in many different mediums including woodworking, crocheting, knitting, painting, card and jewelry making and a bake sale.
The winning raffle ticket for the Victorian dollhouse will be drawn on Nov. 30, 2014 following the day's church services.
