The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission will host a second planning meeting for improving recreation and access at Wallace Falls State Park 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 21.
Parks staff will present conceptual maps and management alternatives that address issues raised by stakeholder during the first stage of planning and an initial meeting back in Nov. 15. Those issues include trail connections with adjacent lands and parking, which has been strained as use of the state park near Index has grown.
“In addition, the public lands adjacent to Wallace Falls State Park provide an exciting opportunity to identify trail connections with the goal of improved user experience for hikers, mountain bikers, equestrians and other trail users,” according to a news release.
The planning meeting will take place in the Community Room at Sultan City Hall, 319 Main St.
Public comment can be made during the meeting, or by contacting parks planner Randy Kline at 360-902-8632 or randy.kline@parks.wa.gov.
