The Sno-Isle Libraries Board of Trustees has selected Lois Langer Thompson to be the library district’s next executive director following a nationwide search.
Thompson, who is currently director at Hennepin County Library, was one of three finalists invited to meet the library district’s community, which includes Snohomish and Island counties, in mid-August.
Tess Mayer, King County Library System director of Library Outreach, Programs and Services, and Donna Ohr, San Diego County Library deputy director of Communities, Strategy and Technology were the other two finalists.
An offer was made to Thompson following the three-day tour, public meetings and interviews, and her appointment was announced at the Aug. 27 board of trustees meeting.
She will replace Jonalyn Woolf-Ivory, who is retiring on Nov. 30 after 33 years with Sno-Isle Libraries, the past 16 as executive director.
“It is a great honor to be invited to lead Sno-Isle Libraries as the next executive director,” Thompson said in a news release. “I look forward to working collaboratively with the Board, staff members and communities to keep Sno-Isle Libraries as an innovative library and welcoming to everyone.
