Spa Mamas returns to Main Street

Spa Mamas day spa has moved from its North Kelsey location into a space on East Main Street, right in the heart of Monroe's downtown core.

The spa is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, with evening appointments available every Tuesday. Spa Mamas specializes in facials, body treatments, sugaring, eyelash extensions, massage, hand and foot reflexology and special occasion makeup. Spa Mamas owner and master esthetician Stacy Snitzler said that when she was located on West Main Street when she first opened her business in 2011, so returning downtown is a bit like coming full circle.

"I liked the idea of being a little bit more in the community,GÇ¥ Snitzler said. "To be able to have a little bit more of that feeling of community and camaraderie.GÇ¥

Snitzler, an esthetician for 10 years, taught esthetics at Paroba College in Everett for three years before deciding that she missed performing the services herself. She decided to open her own business with a specific purpose in mind: she didn't want her services to be so costly that only women in a particular income bracket could afford them.

"It really is my goal that anybody can come and get those things done,GÇ¥ Snitzler said. "It really should just be part of our lives.GÇ¥

She has maintained her instructional credentials, and is able to certify licensed estheticians, plus provide training in sugaring and eyelash extensions. While she enjoys providing all the services on her spa menu, she considers facials, eyelash extensions and sugaring to be her specialties.-á

Sugaring is a hair-removal technique and alternative to waxing. Snitzler said it's a safer product, since sugar is hypoallergenic and the process doesn't involve hot wax.

"It's a paste made of just sugar water and lemon juice, and we mold it with a gloved hand onto the skin and then use a flicking motion of the wrist to remove the sugar and then the hair comes with it,GÇ¥ Snitzler said. "You see a lot less reaction just due to the fact that there's only those three ingredients. Very few people in the world have a reaction to sugar water and lemon juice; it's all-around just a better product.GÇ¥

Spa Mamas also offers licensed massage therapy services, provided by massage therapist Natasha Keeley.

"I have yet to have anybody get a massage from her and not come out saying that was the best massage they've ever had, which is definitely what you want to hear about your therapist,GÇ¥ Snitzler said. "I can speak from my own experience that she is really good at what she does.GÇ¥

Snitzler said she is happy to be back in the heart of Monroe.

"We're excited to be here,GÇ¥ Snitzler said.
