Hidden Treasures in Washington's Museums: Sat., June 7, 1 p.m. Besides space restrictions, there are political, philosophical, artistic, environmental and historic reasons why museums keep objects from view. Journalist Harriet Baskas will present a photo-filled and offbeat tour of Washington history through the stories of museum artifacts that are rarely or never shown to the public. Learn how those objects came to be in the local collections and who makes decisions about what is kept from view.
Origami with Marta: Sat., June 21, 2 p.m. Local artist Marta Cunha will discuss the Japanese art of origami. Create a variety of origami animals, and learn about library resources that can expand your knowledge of origami. Preregistration required as space is limited.
Summer Reading Kick-off, Carnivorous Terrariums: Tues., June 24, 12:30 p.m. Kick off Teen Summer Reading by learning how to create and care for a terrarium with a Sundew - a plant that eats bugs. Each participant will take home their very own carnivorous terrarium. Bonus: discover library resources that will help you care for your Sundew and learn about other carnivorous plants! Preregistration is required as supplies are limited.

Children's Programs:
Reading with Rover: Sat., June 28, 11 a.m. The Reading with Rover program is designed to help kids strengthen reading skills and improve reading confidence.
Summer Reading Kickoff with Marco Cortes: Sat., June 28, 2 p.m. Chilean musician Marco Cortes brings books to life through Spanish and English music. Sign up for the Summer Reading Program. For school age children.
Teen Programs:
Meet Author Elizabeth George: Sat., June 21, 11 a.m. Renowned mystery author Elizabeth George will talk about the craft of writing and her popular teen series set on Whidbey Island: The Edge of Nowhere and The Edge of the Water. Main Street Books will have books for sale, and Elizabeth George will be available after the program for book signing.
Carnivorous Terrariums: Tues., June 24, 3 p.m. Celebrate the start of summer and kick off Teen Summer Reading by learning how to create and care for a terrarium with a Sundew, a plant that eats bugs. Each participant will take home their very own carnivorous terrarium. Discover library resources that will help care for the Sundew and learn about other carnivorous plants. For ages 12-17.
Adult Programs:
The Game is on! The Seattle7Writers Crime Squad Trivia Show: Sat., June 21, 2 p.m. Acclaimed local mystery and thriller authors battle wits as they vie for points in this literary-themed trivia quiz presentation. Audience participation encouraged and prizes will be awarded. Stay afterward to purchase books and have them signed by authors William Dietrich, Elizabeth George, Bharti Kirchner, Mike Lawson, Boyd Morrison and Bernadette Pajer.
