Sultan Harvest rehomed to Sultan High Commons

Sultan's free community Thanksgiving dinner, known as Sultan Harvest, will take place at a new venue this year!
The festive community event will take place from noon to 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving Thursday, Nov. 27, at Sultan High School in the commons area.
The traditional Thanksgiving Day meal, which will include turkey along with all the trimmings, is free for anyone who wishes to attend and will feature children's activities including crafts and games.
Santa Claus will be on hand for photographs.
Desserts, including freshly-baked pumpkin and apple pies, are being prepared by Kathryne Paz of Galaxy Chocolates, who has volunteered to bake 70 pies for the event. Galaxy Chocolates was ranked #7 in King 5 Evening Magazine's recent Best of Western Washington competition in the category of Best Chocolate.
Monetary donations are being accepted by the Volunteers of America to help fund the pie ingredients.
This year, the Sultan Harvest volunteers and the Volunteers of America (VOA) in Sultan have joined in a collaborative effort to coordinate the event. Donations of cash are needed to help support the meal and can be dropped off at the Sultan Visitor's Center, Coastal Community Bank in Sultan and the Loggers Inn. Donations of both food and cash can be dropped off at the Sky Valley Eagles facility at 1112 E. Main St. in Sultan.
Volunteers are still needed to help during the event, which can be a great way for Sultan High School students to begin working on the community service hours required for graduation. The VOA currently has opportunities for kitchen workers, food servers, decorators, table bussers, cleanup crew members, a Santa Claus photographer and game organizers. An additional photographer to take candid photos throughout the event is also needed.
Additionally, the VOA is holding a warm-clothing drive in hopes of being able to distribute the items directly to recipients who are in need at the dinner. They are accepting gently-used coats, hats, gloves and blankets, all of which can be dropped off at the VOA or the Sultan Visitor's Center.
For more information on how to volunteer, contact the Volunteers of America at 360-793-2400 or stop by the VOA at 701 1st St. in Sultan. Organizational Sultan Harvest meetings are held every Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the VOA. All attendees are welcome.
The Sultan Visitor's Center is located across the street from city hall at 320 Main St. in Sultan. Coastal Community Bank is located at 425 Main St., and the Sky Valley Eagles is located at 1112 E. Main St., just east of the downtown core.
