Sultan School District bond measure failing in early returns

It looks like Sultan School District supporters may need to head back to the drawing board, as the early returns on Proposition No. 1 are not favoring approval.
According to the Snohomish County Auditor's Office, as of 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 9, the Sultan School District's $47.7 million bond measure was approved by only 43.37 percent of the voters. School bond measures require a 60 percent majority to pass. A total of 2,352 ballots have been counted, so far, with 1,020 votes to approve and 1,332 votes to reject. The numbers will be updated 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, as more ballots are counted.
