Sultan wastewater plant wins award for performance

Each year, the Department of Ecology recognizes wastewater treatment plants across Washington State for achieving exceptional levels of compliance with state requirements. The treatment plants undergo on-site inspections in addition to a rigorous analysis of plant monitoring procedures and test reporting.
Sultan is one of 107 wastewater treatment plants that managed to achieve full compliance with its National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit. Approximately 300 facilities were examined.
Strom thanked Public Works Director Mick Matheson, Public Works Field Supervisor Connie Dunn, and Sultan City Hall.
"It's a lot of getting up in the middle of the night,GÇ¥ said Strom. "But it's a great job.GÇ¥
